i watched a 60 minutes special on the the sagrada familia cathedral in barcelona the other day. which by the way, i was forced to watch every sunday as a child and thought andy rooney was the strangest man, i actually look forward to watching it most sunday nights. it’s hard for me to put into words the emotions i felt even seeing pictures of it, let alone the back story behind it. i feel like american culture is so focused on its self that you really have to go out of your way to seek things out. like something so simple as going almost three decades without knowing what hagelslag is. but THIS. to not have antoni gaudí story just seems wrong. for a man so dedicated to his work and influenced so many others that over a 100 years after breaking ground people are still working on his vision. while spain has always been on my radar of places to visit seeing this cathedral has definitely moved up on my bucket list.
